Exclusive Media snags rights to novel

Exclusive Media has optioned all rights to Stewart O’Nan’snovel “The Odds: A Love Story.” Exclusive Media plans to develop and produce afeature from the book with Josh Lesher and Christina Liao.

 

The novel follows “a struggling couple on the vergeof bankruptcy and divorce who go on a last desperate gambling trip to NiagaraFalls, the site of their honeymoon.”

 

Exclusive’s recent productions were “The Woman in Black” and “The Ides ofMarch.”

Ashton Kutcher to star as Steve Jobs

Ashton Kutcher has been signed on to play Steve Jobsin the biopic titled “Jobs,” which is being produced and financed by Five StarInstitute’s Mark Hulme.

 

The film is planned to begin principal photographyin May.  Joshua Michael Stern who directed“Swing Vote” will helm the project.

 

The film “Jobs” will have to compete with anotherSteve Jobs biopic that Sony will be producing. “Jobs” will mainly be aboutSteve Job’s rise from his Northern California roots to being the co-founder ofApple.

Platinum Dunes setting sights on “Halloween”

The Michael Bay led company is in talks to beproducers for Dimension Films Halloween sequel. As of this point not much isknown about the project except that it will not be in 3D and will be divinginto the “found footage” style.

 

Platinum Dunes has already remade classic slasherssuch as “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “Friday the 13th,” and “ANightmare On Elm Street.”

American Idol contestant to join Jason Bateman innew film

“American Idol” finalist Kevin Covais will bejoining Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy in Seth Gordon’s comedy titled “IdentityThief.”


The film will follow Bateman playing “a man who’slife falls apart after his identity is stolen. When he corners the perpetrator (McCarthy),he gets a wake-up call he wasn’t expecting.”


Covaiswill be playing an Eagle Scout who also had his identity stolen and will bewanting revenge.


The film is currently up for a May 10th release in 2013

 HankAaron Biopic Getting Ready for ProductionProducers Mike Tollin and GlennRigberg have gotten rights to bring Hank Aaron’s story to the big screen withBarry Levinson to direct and using a script written by Adam Mazer


The film will be based off the Howard Bryant book “The Last Hero:The Story of Henry Aaron.” The film will mainly follow “the right fielder’schase of Babe Ruth’s home run record from 1972 to 1974.”

Roland Emmerich in negotiations to direct film “WhiteHouse Down”

Roland Emmerich is in talks to helm the SonyPictures project “White House Down.” The film is reported to be an action/dramaabout a paramilitary takeover of the White House and is compared to “Die Hard.”

 

Emmerich will begin shooting in the fall withproducing partner Harald Kloser. His project after “White House Down” would be theColumbia Pictures film “Singularity.”

Dumb and Dumber 2 to begin production in September

The 1994 film “Dumb and Dumber” will be getting an officialsequel it looks like as Peter Farrelly has recently said “We're getting setto shoot 'Dumb and Dumber 2' in September.” “It's the first sequel we've everdone and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back.”

 

Farrellyadded about the prequel “Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd:” “We did notdo 'Dumb and Dumberer, That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do asequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wantedto do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, 'We've got to do this thingagain.' He had just watched 'Dumb and Dumber' and he said, 'This is the perfectsequel. Let's do it.”

 

TheFarrelly Brother’s most recent film is the upcoming remake of “The ThreeStooges.”

Sequel to Twins in the works

Universal and Montecito Pictures are currentlytrying to develop a sequel to the 1988 hit comedy that starred ArnoldSchwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. However it would not only include the stars ofthe original, it would also have Eddie Murphy come in as a third brother

 

As of now the project is titled Triplets and wouldcenter on Schwarzenegger and DeVito playing their parts from the first anddiscovering they have a third sibling.

 

The film doesn’t have a director yet however theactors are attached to star.
