Writer of “The Break-Up” hired for “Police Academy” reboot

Jeremy Garelick, who wrote the 2006 film “The Break-Up has been attached to rewrite New Line’s Police Academy reboot. The comedy will be produced by Paul Maslansky and will follow the tale of a group of bumbling police recruits.

Garelick is also rewriting the film “Sick Day” for Universal and will also be directing. Police Academy will be directed by Scott Zabielski.

Two more cast in Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah”

Douglas Booth and Logan Lerman  have been attached to Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical film “Noah” which will star Russell Crowe.

Booth will play Noah’s son Shem and Lerman will play the other son Ham.

Matthew Modine attached to star in Steve Jobs biopic

Matthew Modine will be acting alongside Ashton Kutcher in the Steve Jobs bio film titled “Jobs.” Modine will play “former Pepsi-Cola CEO John Sculley who was recruited by Jobs to lead Apple in 1983.”

Two more added to cast of “Twelve Years a Slave”

Paul Giamatti and Sara Paulson have been attached to star in the film “Twelve Years a Slave.” The film will be directed by Steve McQueen.

The film will be a “recounting of a free man who was sold into slavery.” The film has already attached Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch and Brad pitt.

Director of “Journey 2” in negotiations to helm San Andreas 3D

Brad Peyton who directed “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” is currently in talks to take over the disaster film titled “San Andreas 3D.”

Plot details are not out yet however the project will follow a massive earthquake that hits California. Beu Flynn and Tripp Vinson are producing.

Brittany Curran has been cast in thriller “Black Mask”

Brittany Curran from the television series “Men of a Certain Age” has been attached to star in the film “Black mask.” The film is being directed by Marcus Nispel who has recently directed “Conan the Barbarian.”

The movie “centers on a group of teenagers that accidentally releases an evil spirit that starts to possess them one by one.”

Nispel has also directed the 2009 “Friday the 13th.”

Ashley Tisdale to star in “Scary Movie 5”

Ashley Tisdale, who has appeared in the “High School Musical” franchise will star in the fifth installment of the “Scary Movie” series.

Malcolm Lee is directing the film which is starting production this summer.

Will Beal has been picked to write “Justice League”

Warner Bros. has attached Will Beal, who wrote this year’s film “Gangster Squad” to write it’s DC super hero team up film called “Justice League.”

Beal has also been writing the “Lethal Weapon” reboot and the “Logan’s Run” remake.

Warner Bros. has been trying to get a “Justice League” movie together for some time now however was met with development hell.
